Oven-baked Delight: Breakfast Food Photography in denver

The art of food photography is more than just capturing a dish; it's about telling a story with the details of the table setting, and the choice of light whether it be natural light or studio strobes. In the heart of Colorado, where the culinary scene thrives with creativity, capturing this oven pancake recipe involved trial and error. As a Denver food photographer, I like to experiment with different ways to transform a simple breakfast dish into something more elevated.

I experimented with adding thinly-sliced apples to this oven pancake, the recipe itself is simple enough but after an accident with the powdered sugar I decided I needed to take another go at it. I also sort of haphazardly scattered the apples at first, but the second round I wanted to perfect the sliced apples and arrange then in a more appealing composition for the photo. I was happy with the product of that attempt and tried a few variations.

I often use hard lighting for food - I love for the photos to feel as if you are basking in sunlight, bright and inviting. I also tend to not overly retouch the images, I like to clean things up but I also want the photos to feel pretty true to form. I style most of the imagery myself but love to collaborate with prop stylists and food stylists to elevate the end result. Hopefully you enjoy these photos, this was a fun recipe to test out.
